Varför är det så att man alltid hittar på saker att göra i sista sekund om man stannar på en plats en längre tid? Det var inte förrän den sista veckan i Acapulco som vi började hitta på saker trots att vi varit här i tre månader och en av dagarna bestämde vi oss för att åka på ett litet äventyr. Vi tog med oss våra vänner Erika och Kevin för att utforska ön La Roqueta, som ligger några minuter utanför Acapulco, och även se en helig staty som är placerad under vattenytan utanför La Roqueta och denna staty ska tydligen skänka trygghet på vattnet för båtarna som åker ut på Stilla havet.

Vi tog bussen till playa Caleta, det är bara att hoppa på någon av bussarna som det står Caleta på, och väl där blir du påhoppad av olika båtföretag som vill att du åker med just dem. De flesta tar samma pris (85 pesos eller 39 SEK) av de båtar som har glasbotten och det priset inkluderar en biljett tur och retur till La Roqeuta, samt en guidad tur på spanska och möjlighet att få se den heliga statyn. Båtarna går mellan 11 och 17, så håll koll på tiden så du inte missar sista båten tillbaka till fastlandet annars kanske man kan få låna en hammock av militären som är placerad på ön. Vi vandrade upp till toppen på ön, där man hittar militäranläggningen och en fyr, och utsikten från fyren är helt fantastisk. Vi utforskade sedan stora delar av ön innan vi tog oss ned till stranden för att svalka oss med både öl och bad.  Stranden på ön är skyddad och har inte de höga vågorna som annars slår mot Acapulco och sanden är mycket finare här, så vill man bada kan det vara skönt att åka hit istället!

Why is it that you always find things to do at the last second if you stay in one place for a longer time? It was not until the last week in Acapulco that we started doing things, even though we have been here for three months, and one of the days we decided to go on a small adventure. We brought our friends Erika and Kevin to explore the La Roqeuta island, which is located a few minutes outside of Acapulco, and to see a holy statue that is submerged next to La Roqueta and this statue will apparently bring safety for the boats that go out on the Pacific Ocean.

We took the bus to Playa Caleta, you just hop on one of the buses that has Caleta written on it, and once there, you will be attacked by various boat companies who want you to go with just them. Most of them, who haves the glass-bottom boats, have the same price (85 pesos or 4 Euro) and the price includes a round trip ticket to La Roqeuta, as well as a guided tour in Spanish and the opportunity to see the submerged sacred statue. The boats run between 11 and 17, so keep track of the time so you don’t miss the last boat back to the mainland, otherwise you can maybe borrow a hammock by the military, who is located on the island. We walked up to the top of the island, where you find the military facilities and a lighthouse, and the view from the lighthouse is absolutely stunning. We also explored large parts of the island before we came down to the beach to cool off with both beer and swimming. The beach on the island is protected and doesn’t have the high waves that hit Acapulco, and the sand is very fine here, so if you want to swim it might be nice to go here instead!

Vi ville åka fort, men tyvärr fick det bli en behaglig liten tur på vattnet utan svängar med denna båt! We wanted to go fast, but unfortunately it showed to be just a pleasant little trip on the water, without any turns, with this boat!
