Vi fick nog av att vara i en partystad och när vi väl kom till insikt att det var för stökigt för oss i Kuta så vi bestämde oss rätt snabbt att flytta på oss. Valet föll på Lovina som ligger i den norra delen av Bali. Vi har hittat ett jättebra och billigt transportföretag (Perama) som trafikerar hela Bali och Lombok, och de har ett onlinesystem som kan användas för att köpa biljetter. Vi rekommenderar verkligen dem och det var Perama som vi åkte med för att nå norra kusten, bussturen tog 4 timmar och vi fick en enkel lunch av dem när vi kom fram.
Vi ville ha lite semester då vi suttit rätt så mycket med våra projekt i Kuta, så vi bokade in oss på en fisketur och delfinskådning (Lovina är känt för alla delfiner som lever vid kusten). Vi steg upp klockan halv fem på morgonen för att börja vår färd ut på öppet hav i den mörka morgontimmen innan solen gick upp. Det var en helt fantastisk färd där den otroliga stjärnhimmeln gav oss ett svagt sken i mörkret så man kunde se vågorna innan de slog mot båten. Stjärnbilden Orion har aldrig sett så detaljerad ut som nu och vi fick uppleva flera meteoriter (stjärnfall) som snabbt brann upp i jordens atmosfär. Lika fantastiskt var det svarta havet som blev till en spegelbild av den vackra stjärnhimmeln varje gång båtens utriggare slog i vattnet och väckte de förskräckta fluorescerande algerna.
Precis när solens strålar började färga horisonten blå kastade vi i våra fiskelinor för att försöka att fånga vår första tonfisk och vi satt med fiskelinorna i våra händer medan vi fick njuta av den vackra soluppgången ute till havs. Fiskelyckan var tyvärr dålig, men vi lyckades fånga en tonfisk under dessa tidiga morgontimmar innan vi begav oss bort mot delfinernas hemvist. Det var en väldigt speciell stund då vi fick följa en flock delfiner (20-30 stycken) i en och en halvtimme och vi fick se dem leka med varandra och vågorna i sitt naturliga element. Normalt så är det rätt så många båtar med turister där under den tidiga morgontimmen, men vi kom dit senare och då var det bara tre andra båtar där och iakttog dem tillsammans med oss. Tipset är att inte åka ut med alla andra tidigt på morgonen om ni vill se delfinerna i lugn och ro här!
Vi kom hem lagom till lunch och dagens fångst blev även vår lunch för dagen. Stekt tonfisk som man har fångat själv smakar så gott!
We got tired of staying in a party town and when we came to the realisation that it was too messy for us in Kuta, we decided quite quickly to move to another place. The choice fell on Lovina which is located in the northern part of Bali. We’ve found a great and inexpensive transport company (Perama) operating throughout Bali and Lombok, and they have an online system that can be used to purchase tickets. We highly recommend them and it was Perama we went with to reach the northern coast, the bus took 4 hours and we got a simple lunch included in the ticket price when we arrived in Lovina.
We wanted to have a little vacation after a week working with our projects in Kuta, so we booked ourselves on a fishing trip and dolphin watch (Lovina is known for all the dolphins that live just by the coast). We got up at half past five in the morning to begin our journey to the high seas in the dark morning hours before the sun came up. It was an absolutely fantastic journey where the incredible starry sky gave us a faint glow in the dark so that we could see the waves before they hit the ship. The constellation Orion has never looked so detailed and we got to experience several meteorites (shooting stars) that quickly burned up in Earth’s atmosphere. Equally amazing was the black sea that became a mirror image of the beautiful starry sky every time the boat’s outrigger hit the water and brought out the terrified fluorescent algae.
We threw in our fishing lines to try to catch our first tuna just as the sun began to color the horizon blue and we sat with the fishing lines in our hands while we got to enjoy a beautiful sunrise at sea. The fishing luck was unfortunately poor, but we managed to catch a tuna during these early morning hours before we went to the dolphin’s residence. It was a very special moment when we got to follow a flock of dolphins (20-30 animals) for an hour and a half, and we got to see them play with each other and the waves in their natural element. Normally, it is a lot of boats with tourists there during the early morning hours, but we got there a bit later and then it was only three other boats there that wathced the dolphins together with us. Our recommendation is not to go out with all the other tourists early in the morning if you want to see the dolphins almost by yourself here!
We got home in time for lunch and the catch of the day was also our lunch for the day. Fried tuna that you caught yourself taste so good!
